How to Set Up Your Designer Profile

This walkthrough takes you from no profile to a live public page. You can stop at any step, nothing is public until the final one.

Everything here lives on the Designer Profile page, which you can open from your account menu.

Step 1: Claim a handle

Your handle is the address of your public page: mylasertools.com/u/your-handle. On the Designer Profile page, type a handle. As you type, we check whether it is available.

  • 3 to 30 characters.
  • Letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores only.
  • Cannot start or end with a hyphen or underscore.
  • Not case-sensitive: typing MyShop becomes myshop.
  • Some names are reserved (like admin or a tool name) so nobody can look official.

When the handle shows as available, click Claim handle. This reserves the name. It does not publish anything yet.

You can change your handle later, but only once every 30 days, and the old handle is freed for others once you change it. Pick one you are happy to keep.

Step 2: Choose what to show

Once you have a handle, the second section unlocks. Fill in only what you want public, each optional field has its own switch.

  • Display name - what appears at the top of your page. Leave it blank to show your handle instead. It is never your account or Google name.
  • Bio - a short description, up to 280 characters.
  • Location - optional, with its own visibility switch.
  • Join date - optional; shows month and year only.
  • Design count - shown by default; switch it off if you prefer not to show it.

Step 3: Add an avatar (optional)

Your avatar starts empty. You have two ways to add one, and both are explicit choices:

  • Upload a picture from your device. It is cropped to a square automatically.
  • Use my Google picture copies your current Google profile photo across. This only happens when you click the button, never automatically.

Turning on the avatar switch is what makes it visible on the public page. You can remove the avatar at any time.

Step 4: Add links (optional)

You can add up to five links to your website, Etsy or other shop, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, or Facebook. Pick the type from the dropdown and paste the full https:// address.

  • Links must use https://.
  • The address has to match the type you chose, an Instagram link has to point at instagram.com, so a mistyped or spammy link is rejected rather than shown with a trusted icon.
  • Add an optional label to change the text shown on the button.

Click Save links when you are done.

Step 5: Preview, then go public

Click Preview as visitor to see your page laid out the way a visitor would see it, showing only the fields you switched on. The preview reflects your current settings, including changes you have not saved yet, so save your edits to make the live page match. Your stats on the live page (followers, published designs, likes, and downloads) reflect your approved public designs and community activity.

When you are happy, flip the Profile is public switch at the top of the section. Your page is now live at mylasertools.com/u/your-handle. You can turn it off again at any time.

Every visibility switch (Profile is public, avatar, location, Join date, Design count) takes effect on the live page right away. Your name, bio, location text, and avatar image are drafts until you click Save profile. Turning the profile public also saves whatever content is in those fields at that moment, so publishing never exposes an unsaved draft.
