How to publish your design

Community Designs are free, laser-ready SVG files shared by makers like you. Anyone can download them, open them in the editor and cut, engrave or print them. Sharing your own takes a few minutes and puts your work in front of the whole community, credited to you.

What are community designs?

They are laser-ready designs that makers publish to share with everyone. Each one is free to use: download the SVG or open it in the Design Editor to remix it, then make it on your machine. The only thing to check is the licence. If you plan to sell what you make, make sure the maker allowed commercial use, since some designs are shared for personal use only. Every design page shows its licence with a plain-language explanation.

Publish in four steps

1. Set up your free designer profile
This comes first, because publishing links every design back to your public profile. Claim a handle and set your designer profile to public. Until you do, publishing stays locked. It is free and takes a minute, and it is how you get credit for what you share.
2. Create and save your design in the Design Editor
Draw or import your artwork in the Design Editor, or open something you made in one of our generators and send it there. Save it so it becomes a project in My Designs. Every published design starts from a saved Design Editor project.
3. Publish it to the gallery
Click Publish in the Design Editor, or open My Designs and click the globe on your project. Add a photo, a title, a short description and a few tags, choose the licence that says how others may use it, and confirm the work is yours to share. It goes live in the gallery straight away, credited to you.
4. Stay in control
Edit the details, update the artwork and photo, hide it, or remove it from the gallery whenever you want. If you keep working on your project after publishing, its public copy stays as it was until you choose Update public copy.

Frequently asked questions

Are community designs free?

Yes. Every design in the community gallery is free to download and use. There is no charge and no subscription to open, remix or cut them.

Can I sell what I make from a community design?

It depends on the licence the maker chose. Many designs allow personal and commercial use, so you can sell the finished pieces you cut or engrave. Others are personal use only, or ask for credit. Always check the licence shown on the design page before you sell anything made from it.

Who can publish a design?

Anyone with a free account and a public designer profile. Publishing is locked until you have claimed a handle and set your profile to public. You publish a saved Design Editor project, either with the Publish button in the editor or the globe on the project in My Designs.

Do I keep the rights to my design after I publish it?

Yes. Sharing a design in the gallery does not give up your rights to it. The licence you choose only governs what other people may do with the copy you publish.
