# How to make photo print and cut keychains

> photo silhouettes and artwork with matching print and cut files

The finished examples show a photo cut around a person and a round illustration keychain. The original photo supplies the printed artwork; background removal supplies only the outline.

## What you need

- A JPG, PNG or WebP photo or illustration, up to 20 MB.
- [Clear acrylic sheet, frosted on both sides](https://yxecreations.com/products/clear-acrylic-sheet-both-side-frosted)
- A printing and cutting workflow suitable for your chosen material, plus a jig or registration method to align the files.
- A keyring or jump ring to fit the hole.

## 1. Upload your image and choose a cut

- Cut to shape: choose a preset such as a circle, then scale and position your photo.
- Cut to silhouette: follow an existing transparent background. An opaque photo uses its full rectangle.
- Remove background: sign in with your MLT account, then let the browser find the subject outline. Review the result before cutting.

## 2. Set the size, border and hole

Set the design size, adjust the silhouette border and choose the keyring hole diameter and position. Check Together, Print and Cut views. If the outline has separate pieces, increase the border until they join or choose a preset shape.

## 3. Download and align the files

Download SVG for one file containing an embedded transparent PNG and vector cut outline. The button becomes Download to LightBurn in LightBurn. Open in Design Editor keeps both the image and cut paths editable. On the MLT website, the ZIP also includes separate print and cut files. The raster print is 300 dpi. Keep the full page size and origin when importing: the page includes bleed and margin, so it is larger than the keychain. Print at actual size (100%) and avoid cropping transparent margins. If your software ignores PNG print-size metadata, match its page dimensions to the cut SVG.

## Print and cut

### Make the keychain

1. Use your machine’s jig or registration workflow to align the printed image with the cut SVG. Machine-specific registration marks are not included.
2. Print the artwork and cut the red SVG paths using the process appropriate for your material. The red lines belong to the cutting file, not the print.
3. Check the finished edges and attach a keyring through the hole.

## Make it yours

Try a portrait silhouette for a personal keepsake, or put an illustration inside a circle. Adjust the border color to suit the artwork.
