# How to make print and cut art ornaments

> printed ornaments cut to a ball, bell or star or around the artwork, or 3D printed in colour

The tool places your picture inside an ornament outline, adds a hanging loop at the top and lays out matching print and cut files on one page.

## What you need

- A colour SVG from the Art Library, your own SVG, or a JPG, PNG or WebP photo.
- A printer and white card, matte photo paper or printable wood.
- A laser or cutting machine that can line up a printed sheet.

## 1. Open the artwork

Upload a file, choose Browse the Art Library to pick a piece without leaving the tool, or open a colour piece in the Art Library and choose Make it into, then Ornament.

## 2. Pick the outline

Cut to shape puts the artwork inside a ball, bauble, drop, oval, ribbed ball, star, bell or tulip, with a frame around the edge in the colour you choose. Follow transparency cuts around the artwork itself with an even border. Drag the artwork in the preview to place it.

## 3. Print, then cut

Download the print and cut ZIP. Print the PNG or PDF at actual size, line the sheet up in the machine and cut the red outline and the hanging hole.

## Laser cut

### Line it up

1. Keep the bleed at 1 mm or more so a small misalignment does not leave a white edge.
2. Cut a test on scrap paper first and check the outline against the print.
3. Seal printed card with a matte spray before hanging it on a tree.

## 3D print

### Print it in colour

Colour 3D printing needs SVG artwork. Each colour becomes its own part in the 3MF and sits flush in the top face, so a multi-colour printer can print the ornament in one go.

## Make it yours

A set of bird ornaments from one colour plate makes a matching tree. Add a name and year on the back in the Design Editor.
